In our mobile version the digging is so slow it gives you plenty of time to think whether that mine or quarry really needs to be claimed (especially in the old 24h / 4h implementation). Oh yes in Dungeon Keeper 2 digging was really fast.

So what about the infamous digging comparison.

You would need to have sold many many copies to be able to do that. So one of the positive side effects of Free to Play and mobile/web casual gaming is indeed that you reach a very wide audience and have a very large pool of human players for PvP architectures. multiple platforms shared the market, less so today (ok don't get me started there) the internet was less or not available, both technically and as a household service There are many reasons why games before mobile and web based games could not offer that PvP interaction: Hold on! There's this thing called PvP mode in DK mobile. the campaigns in DK mobile are dull and as the AI of defense missions is limited, the game would be silly. I wish we could get some in DK mobile (streamed of course) at some milestones in the game.Īlso the campaign mode was much more elaborate. The inevitable comparison with DK mobile.Įven after all this time (15 years!), Dungeon Keeper 2 is far from cheesy and the gameplay is in some ways more enjoyable than many modern games.Īlthough they are perfectly useless as far as gameplay is concerned the story telling videos were fantastic. Now Richard Riding's voice (the narrator) was still so good, in fact I discovered on the imdb he is a proeminent voice provider and DK is just a very small thing for him.Īnd then of course the bit you're all waiting for !
#Dungeon keeper 2 gameplay manual
I had to read through the manual because the icons and their exact use were not exactly so clear. I enjoyed the opening sequence which I sort of vaguely remembered and fumbled with the icons, nearly trying to tap my monitor.

My trip down memory lane is worth it, DK2 still has a lot of charm, it's like an old movie classic. There's a song that says "You shouldn't try to go back to a place where you used to be happy" so I was a bit afraid of breathing life into that nearly teenage memory, for fear of killing the magic. Some weeks ago I got a second hand copy from a garage sale (mine was lost, loaned or whatever) and I could not resist the old romance, especially for 1$. It had been a long while - many years in fact - since I had played the famous Dungeon Keeper 2.
